I've said it before and I'll say it a million more times: Music can speak soul like nothing else.
I get completely lost within myself when it comes to certain artists or songs yet found at the exact same time. Ben Howard is one musician that can bring me to tears every single time I hear him. It doesn't matter if it is the 1,311,714th time I've heard the same song: Every. Single. Time.
Being an artist in the UK, my chances seeing him live on tour were slim, or so I thought. January 2015 he made his way to Nashville to perform at The Ryman. Oh my heavens. I've seen my fair share of concerts, and nothing compares to this show. The setting, the audience, the vibe, the whole damn thing was simply pure perfection. I spaced out, edge-seat sitting and enjoyed every second of him serenading what seemed to be only me in an empty room.
With the exception of one quick photo that is displayed in the blog header (excuse the shitty iPhone shot), I didn't even think of pulling out my phone. In the past I've been guilty of recording a few songs and admittedly every song at my first John Mayer concert (uhhh I know stupidity at its finest), but this show changed everything for the greater good. Incredible things can be experienced when you enjoy things through your own eyes rather than behind a screen.
Although I can listen to Ben on any given day, I'll get in this state of heightened emotion and crave listening to his tracks. Crazy things seem to happen on those days to without failure.
Here are a few of my favorites from the mastermind himself:
